The government has committed to taking action and accepting recommendations from an independent review around responsibilities for surface water flooding.

The independent report reviews arrangements for determining responsibility for surface water and drainage assets. The report was carried out in October 2019, and has made a significant amount of recommendations, of which, 12 will be adopted immediately whilst the others are reviewed by ministers.

This is a part of the wider commitment by the current government within its Surface Water Management Plan, which is looking at how to invest and support local flood authorities.
